System Integration

CyberWall integrates deeply with Windows through system tray, Windows Service, and auto-start capabilities.

System Tray

Tray Icon

The system tray icon shows:

Current firewall mode (color-coded)
Network activity indicator
Right-click context menu

Icon States

Active	Normal icon (filtering enabled)
Disabled	Grayed out
Killswitch	Red indicator
Activity	Animated on network events

Context Menu

Right-click the tray icon for:

Show/Hide	Toggle main window
Firewall mode	Switch between modes

Windows Service

Service Mode

CyberWall can run as a Windows Service:

Runs as SYSTEM account
No user interface
Always active filtering
Survives user logoff

Service Installation

Install the service via PowerShell (admin):

.\installer\install.ps1

Service Benefits

Benefit	Description
Always on	Filtering even when UI is closed
SYSTEM privileges	Full network access control
No UAC prompts	Installed once, runs always
Boot protection	Active from system startup

Service + UI

Run both service and UI:

Service handles filtering
UI handles prompts and management
Communication via named pipes

Auto-Start

Launch with Windows

CyberWall can start automatically:

Settings → General → Run at Startup
Or: Windows Settings → Apps → Startup

Start Minimized

Option to start hidden:

App runs in system tray
No main window on startup
Access via tray icon

Minimize to Tray

Close button behavior:

Minimize to tray — Close sends to tray
Exit — Fully closes the app

Auto-Update

How It Works

CyberWall checks GitHub Releases on startup
When an update is available, a toast appears
Download with progress indicator
Installer launches when complete

Update Settings

Setting	Description
Auto-check	Enable/disable update checking
Check on startup	Check when app launches

Manual Update

Go to Settings → About → Check for Updates
Or: Download latest installer from releases

Multi-Monitor Support

Display Awareness

CyberWall adapts to multi-monitor setups:

Main window appears on active monitor
Notifications on selected monitor
Prompts appear on cursor monitor
