View Modes

View Modes

CyberPaste offers two distinct view modes to suit different workflows. Switch between them instantly with Ctrl+M.


Full Mode

Full Mode presents clips in a responsive multi-column grid with rich visual cards.

Layout

  • Responsive grid — Columns adjust to window width
  • Zoom scalingCtrl+Wheel adjusts grid scale (0.6× – 1.75×)
  • 2D navigation — Arrow keys navigate rows and columns
  • Scroll direction — Vertical or horizontal layout options

Clip Cards

Each card displays:

  • Content preview — Text snippet or image thumbnail
  • Type icon — Visual indicator of content type
  • Source icon — Application the clip came from
  • Timestamp — When the clip was captured
  • Clip number — Sequential capture number
  • Pin indicator — Visual badge for pinned clips

Hover Peek

Hover over a card to see a large preview without opening the clip:

  • Images — Full-size image preview with metadata (dimensions, file size)
  • Text — Up to 4000 characters of content
  • Positioning — Centers on the card, clamped to viewport bounds
  • Dismiss — Move mouse away or press Escape to close

Grid Settings

Grid scale Zoom level (0.6× – 1.75×)
Grid columns Number of columns (auto or fixed)
Show scrollbar Display scrollbar overlay
Show source icon Application icon on cards
Show time Capture timestamp on cards
Show type icon Content type icon on cards
Show number Sequential number on cards
Type filter Filter chips for content types
Show HUD Heads-up display with stats

HUD (Heads-Up Display)

The Full Mode HUD shows:

  • Total clip count
  • Filtered clip count
  • Current filter type
  • Storage usage

Compact Mode

Compact Mode provides a high-density list for maximum clip visibility.

Layout

  • Single-column list — Maximum clips visible at once
  • Row height — Configurable compact row height
  • Hover peek — Hover over a clip to see full preview
  • Auto-height — Row height adjusts to content
  • Image peek — Image clips show a thumbnail preview on hover

Folder Navigation

Two folder navigation styles:

Sidebar Vertical folder list on the left
Horizontal bar Folder tabs across the top

Clip Rows

Each row displays:

  • Content preview — Single-line text or thumbnail
  • Type icon — Compact content type indicator
  • Source icon — Small application icon
  • Timestamp — Relative time (e.g., "2m ago")
  • Clip number — Small sequential number

Row height Height of each clip row
Auto-height Auto-adjust row to content
Peek enabled Hover to preview full content
Show source icon Application icon on rows
Show time Timestamp on rows
Show type icon Type icon on rows
Show number Sequential number on rows

Switching Between Modes

Keyboard Shortcut

Press Ctrl+M to toggle between Full and Compact modes.

Morph Transition

Switching between views uses a smooth morph animation:

  • No background flash during transition
  • Animated loader indicates the view is changing
  • Preserves scroll position and selection

Mode Persistence

  • Last used mode is remembered per window
  • Each view mode retains its own settings
  • Switching preserves search query and filter

Type Filter Chips

Both modes support quick filtering by content type:

Filter Description
All Show all clips
Text Plain text clips only
Code Code clips with syntax highlighting
Images Image clips only
Links URL clips only
Files File path clips only

Click a chip to filter. The chip shows a live count of matching clips.

Mouse Navigation

  • Click — Select clip
  • Double-click — Paste clip
  • Right-click — Open context menu
  • Scroll wheel — Navigate list
