How Do You Use

How Do You Use CyberWall?

New to CyberWall? Start here with simple everyday examples to get value from the app in your first five minutes.

Pick the situation that sounds like you, follow two or three steps, and you are done. Each example links to the full guide in case you want more detail later.

1. Decide which apps can use the internet

You installed something new and it immediately wants to go online.

  1. Keep the default Ask to Connect mode and run the app as Administrator when CyberWall asks for it.
  2. When a prompt pops up, check the app name, path, and destination.
  3. Choose Allow always for apps you trust, Block for ones you do not, or Allow once if you are unsure.

Tip: Allow once lasts about 10 minutes, perfect for testing without committing.

2. Stop a suspicious app from calling home

A program you barely know is sending data somewhere.

  1. Find it in the main window and set its rule to Block.
  2. Check the connections log to see where it tried to reach.
  3. If it breaks something you need, change it back to Allow in one click.

Tip: Block rules are persistent, so it stays blocked after reboot.

3. Go quiet during a game or presentation

Popups in the middle of fullscreen are the worst.

  1. Before you start, switch to Block All so unknown apps are silenced but your allowed apps keep working.
  2. Need total silence? Use Killswitch for full lockdown.
  3. Switch back to Ask to Connect when you are done.

Tip: unanswered prompts auto-block after 5 minutes by default, so walking away is safe.

4. See what is using your connection right now

Your internet feels slow and you want to know who is eating it.

  1. Open the Traffic Monitor to see live bandwidth per app.
  2. Check Statistics for top consumers over time.
  3. Block or allow right from what you discover.

Tip: toasts show new connections with app icon, direction, IP, and country flag.

5. Trust your everyday apps once, then forget it

You do not want to answer the same prompt every day.

  1. The first time your browser, mail, or game asks, choose Allow always.
  2. CyberWall saves a rule by app path, so it just works from then on.
  3. Companion tools like updaters are resolved automatically for known cases like Git.

Tip: review your rules once a month, search by name and delete what you no longer use.

6. Make alerts comfortable, not noisy

You want protection without constant interruptions.

  1. Pick a toast position and monitor that suits your setup.
  2. Turn off alert types you do not need, like version or protection notices.
  3. Keep the prompt sound on, or set a custom chime you actually notice.

Tip: rules live in one JSON file, easy to back up before reinstalling Windows.
