Minimap
- Toggle it in the More → Quick Settings menu.
- Shows an overview of the document and lets you navigate by clicking.
Line Numbers and Continuation Guides
- Toggle the line-number gutter in More → Quick Settings or with the slim control on the editor’s left edge.
- The gutter shows line numbers and continuation markers for wrapped lines throughout the note.
- Right-click the gutter to show or hide continuation guides.
- Toggle the total line counter separately in More → Quick Settings; it appears in the status bar.
Character and Emoji Pickers
Use the Σ and smiley buttons in the editor toolbar to open the character map or emoji picker.
- Browse categories or search by character, name, keyword, or Unicode code point.
- Click an item to insert it. Double-click an item to insert it and close the picker.
- Select the pin button to prepare several items. Double-click items or use Add to collect them, then copy the collection or insert it into the note.
- The Recent category keeps recently used items within easy reach.
Version History
- Automatic local snapshots while editing (at most one every 5 minutes, up to 50 per note)
- Open from the history button in the note toolbar
- Preview any version and restore it with one click (current version is preserved first)
How Snapshots Are Saved
Each snapshot stores the previous content whenever a note is persisted:
- Autosave mode: snapshots accumulate as you type (throttled, so at most one every 5 minutes per note)
- Manual mode: one snapshot per manual save (Ctrl+S), same throttle
- Caps: 50 snapshots per note (oldest pruned first) and 1 MB per revision (notes with heavy images are skipped)
- Restoring a version first saves the current content as a snapshot, so nothing is lost
- All 100% local; snapshots are not included in JSON backups
Context Menu
Text Selection Menu
Right-click selected text for:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Cut | Remove and copy to clipboard |
| Copy | Copy to clipboard |
| Paste | Insert from clipboard |
| Bold | Toggle bold formatting |
| Italic | Toggle italic formatting |
| Link | Insert or edit link |
Spell Check
Multi-language spell checking (Chromium dictionaries):
- Misspelled words underlined in red
- Right-click for suggestions
- Add to dictionary option
- Footer badge shows the active dictionaries: click it to toggle the checker on/off or enable several languages at once (handy for bilingual writing)
Each language dictionary downloads automatically the first time you enable it (internet needed that once); afterwards everything works offline, no manual install.
Manage your custom words (added via "Add to dictionary") in Settings → General → Spell checker: search the list, remove words, or add new ones.
Autosave
How Autosave Works
- Notes save automatically as you type
- 1500ms debounce after last keystroke
- Draft protection prevents data loss
- Manual save with Ctrl+S
Save States
The save indicator appears in the editor footer and floating-note toolbar. It shows the current state and, after a successful save, the save time. Hover or keyboard focus reveals the full date and time.
| State | Indicator |
|---|---|
| Saved | Changes are persisted; the last-save time is shown |
| Saving | A write is in progress |
| Pending | Changes are waiting to save. Autosave waits for the typing delay; in manual mode, save with Ctrl+S |
| Error | The latest save failed |
Floating Note Toolbar
When a floating note is too narrow to show every toolbar action, place the pointer over the toolbar and use the mouse wheel to scroll horizontally to the hidden buttons.
Multi-Tab Interface
Tabs
Open multiple notes simultaneously:
- Each tab shows one note
- Switch between tabs by clicking
- Close tabs individually
- Session restoration remembers open tabs
Tab Actions
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| New tab | Open a new note |
| Close tab | Close current note |
| Drag tab | Reorder tabs |
