CyberNotes provides extensive configuration options accessible through the Settings modal.
Settings Categories
General

Quick Settings
Open More → Quick Settings in the title bar for common editor controls:

| Minimap | Show or hide the document overview |
| Line counter | Show the total line count in the status bar |
| Line gutter | Show or hide line numbers beside the editor |
| Keyboard indicators | Show CAPS, NUM and INS states in the footer |
| Word count | Show the word count in the status bar |
| Floating toolbar | Show or hide the toolbar that appears with selected text |
Security

Editor

Statistics

Caps Lock

| Auto-unlock on inactivity | Turns Caps Lock off after keyboard inactivity in the editor; choose a delay from 5 seconds to 24 hours |
| Title-bar status | Shows the active state and countdown/progress; a dismissible notice appears after automatic shutoff |
| Sound preset | Off, Click, Beep, Chime, Glitch |

Data Management
Export
Export your notes:

Import
Restore from backup:
- Go to Settings → Data → Import
- Select JSON backup file
- Automatic safety backup created before import
- Notes are restored
Export Location
- Choose any save location
- Backup includes all folders and notes
- Images included in JSON backup
Database
Storage
- SQL.js (SQLite compiled to WebAssembly)
- Single database file:

Performance
- Deferred writes (1500ms coalescing)
- Minimizes disk I/O
- Lightweight list queries (no content HTML)
- Full content loaded only on open
Images
- Stored in
%APPDATA%\CyberNotes\images\ - Referenced in note content
- Thumbnail extraction from first image
Reset
Factory Reset
Reset all settings to defaults:
- Go to Settings → System
- Click Factory Reset
- Confirm the reset
⚠️ This clears all settings. Notes are preserved unless explicitly deleted.
