Activation
CyberLauncher offers multiple ways to summon the launcher: global shortcut, per-app shortcuts, hot corners, multi-monitor support, and the system tray.
Global Shortcut
Default Shortcut
Press Alt+Shift+L to toggle the launcher from any application.
Customizing the Shortcut
- Go to
Settings → GENERAL → TOGGLE ACTIVATION SHORTCUT - Click the shortcut field (
Press shortcut keys combination...) - Press your desired key combination
- It saves automatically; use
Reset to default shortcut (Alt+Shift+L)to revert
Recommendations
- Include at least one modifier (Alt, Ctrl, Shift) to avoid clashing with typing
- Some combinations are reserved by Windows or other apps; pick another if registration fails
Per-App Global Shortcuts
Any shortcut can have its own system-wide hotkey:
- Open the Add / Edit drawer for the app
- Assign a custom hotkey
- CyberLauncher registers it via Electron
globalShortcut, so it works from any application at any time
Hot Corners
How Hot Corners Work
Move your cursor into an enabled screen corner to summon the launcher:
- No keyboard required
- Detection is restricted to the active monitor (v1.9.x)
- Stabilized activation with safe re-hide (no accidental toggling)
Configuration (Settings → GENERAL → SCREEN CORNER HOTSPOTS ACTIVATION)
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Active Corners | Select one or more corners (Select one or more screen corners to activate the launcher when hovering the cursor) |
| Activation Delay Time | Milliseconds before activation (Prevents accidental trigger activations) |
Suggested values: 0 ms instant, ~200 ms short delay, ~500 ms forgiving. After launching an app via hotspot, re-entering the corner is allowed again and the right panel collapses (v1.9.x flow).
Multi-Monitor Support
Display Selection (Settings → GENERAL → DISPLAY MONITOR)
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Specific monitor | Pin the launcher to one display |
| Follow cursor | Pin a monitor, or choose Follow cursor to open where you activate (hotkey, hotspot, or tray) |
Follow Cursor Mode
The launcher appears on whichever monitor contains your cursor:
- Summon via hotkey, hotspot, or tray on any monitor
- Launcher opens on that screen
- Ideal for multi-monitor workflows
Auto-Hide
Two independent toggles (Settings → GENERAL / Settings → SYSTEM):
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Hide on Background Click | Clicking the launcher's background area automatically hides it to system tray |
| Hide on Blur / Focus Loss | Hide the launcher instantly when you click outside its window / Clicking outside of the launcher window automatically minimizes it |
| Reset View State on Launch | When opening the launcher, clears search/filter/scroll and sets category to 'ALL' (once per open) |
Keep Visible
To keep the launcher visible:
- Pin it (pin button →
Pin window (Keep on top); unpin →Do not keep on top) - Or disable both hide toggles; useful for reference or monitoring
- Modal dialogs (Add / Edit, Settings, tray-pin tip) temporarily block hide-on-blur
Single Instance & System Tray
Behavior
Only one instance of CyberLauncher runs:
- Second launch focuses the existing window
- Switching apps hides the launcher to tray (focus-loss hide)
- Minimize button sends it to the tray (
Minimize to system tray)
Tray Menu (v1.9.x)
Right-click the tray icon (native multi-size ICO, sharp on HiDPI):
- Brand header with app icon
- Most recent submenu — mirrors the main-panel
MOST RECENTlist - New shortcut / Settings / About actions
- Help submenu — Documentation & Wiki, FAQ, Changelog, Website
- Donate, update check, Quit
Keeping the Tray Icon Visible
Windows hides new tray icons behind the overflow (^). CyberLauncher helps:
- First-run tip:
Keep CyberLauncher visible in the tray, Windows hides new tray icons behind the overflow (^) — Drag CyberLauncher onto the taskbar, or pin it in Windows Settings(Got it/Don't show again/Open Windows Settings) Settings → SYSTEM → Pin icon in Windows system traycard (Recommends and opens Windows settings to keep the tray icon always visible next to the system clock) withOpen Settingsbutton- The button runs the bundled
open-taskbar-settings.exenative helper (C# UI Automation, falls back toms-settings:taskbar) to open the nested Windows taskbar-icon settings directly
Startup Options
Launch with Windows
Settings → SYSTEM → LAUNCH AUTO WITH WINDOWS(Launch CyberLauncher automatically when you log into Windows)- Alternative: Windows Settings → Apps → Startup
Start Minimized
Settings → SYSTEM → START MINIMIZED(When launching with Windows, open to the tray without showing the window)- Access via system tray or the global shortcut; reduces startup visual impact
