Capture Preview
The Capture Preview is a non-modal dialog that appears after taking a screenshot (when enabled). It provides a quick overview of your capture with actions, zoom controls, and an auto-close countdown.
Overview
After a capture completes, the preview dialog shows:
- The captured image with zoom and pan
- Action pills showing pending and completed actions
- Manual action buttons (Save, Copy, Edit, etc.)
- Auto-close countdown with pin option
The preview is non-modal, meaning it doesn't block the rest of the application. You can take another capture while the preview is open — the old preview is replaced by the new one.
Enabling/Disabling
From Settings
- Go to Settings → Capture
- Toggle Show capture preview after capture
From Region Overlay
Toggle the preview button in the region overlay toolbar during area capture.
Preview Timeout
Configure how long the preview stays visible before auto-closing:

When the countdown reaches zero, the preview closes and any pending actions are committed.
Preview Layout
The preview dialog has a two-column layout that adapts to window width:
Left Column — Image Preview
- Checkerboard background for transparency display
- Scrollable and zoomable viewport
- Zoom controls overlay (bottom-right)
- Scale controls overlay (bottom-left)
Right Column — Actions Panel
- Active actions header with status pills
- Manual action buttons
- Primary close/continue button with countdown ring
Zoom and Pan
Zoom Controls

Zoom Range
- Minimum: 10%
- Maximum: 800%
- Step: 1.2× per click or mouse wheel notch

Pan
- Click and drag to move the image when zoomed in
- Scroll bars appear when image exceeds viewport
Image Scaling
Upscale the capture resolution using AI-powered scaling:

| 4× | Quadruple resolution (16× pixels) |
⚠️ Scaling is limited by maximum dimension and pixel count constraints.
Action Pills
The preview displays status pills showing what will happen to your capture:

Pill States

Pills animate sequentially from Pending to Working to Done during the preview countdown.

Auto-Close Countdown
The primary button shows a countdown ring that depletes clockwise:
Countdown Behavior
- Ring starts full and empties over the configured duration
- Remaining seconds displayed in the button center
- When countdown reaches zero, the preview closes

Pin Mode
Click the pin button in the title bar to:
- Disable auto-close entirely
- Keep the preview always on top
- Manually close when done

After-Capture Outcomes
The preview manages deferred actions that execute after close:

Commit and Discard
- Commit (Enter or countdown): Runs all pending outcomes
- Discard (Escape): Discards pending outcomes, capture is not saved/shared
Single Instance Behavior
Only one preview dialog can be open at a time:
- Pressing a capture hotkey while preview is open replaces it with the new capture
- The old preview's pending actions are discarded
- Widget captures also replace the active preview
