Capture

CyberSnap offers multiple capture methods to suit any scenario. All capture modes are accessible via hotkeys, the floating Capture Widget, or the system tray context menu.

Capture Modes

Area Capture

Select a rectangular region on screen to capture. The region overlay provides:

  • Crosshair guides — Precision alignment lines that follow your cursor
  • Capture Magnifier — Zoomed pixel view for accurate selection
  • Dimensions display — Real-time width/height of the selected area
  • Smart window detection — Automatically highlights windows under the cursor

How to use:

  1. Trigger area capture (via hotkey or widget)
  2. Click and drag to select the region
  3. Release to capture

Active Window Capture

Captures the currently focused window automatically. CyberSnap detects window borders precisely, including rounded corners and shadows (configurable).

Full Screen Capture

Captures the entire virtual desktop (all monitors in a multi-monitor setup).

Scroll Capture

Automatically scrolls a window or page and stitches multiple captures into a single tall image. Ideal for:

  • Long web pages
  • Documents
  • Chat conversations
  • Code files

How to use:

  1. Trigger scroll capture
  2. Select the region to capture
  3. CyberSnap automatically scrolls and stitches the content
  4. Use the preview to confirm or manually adjust overlap

Repeat Last Area

Re-captures the exact same region as your previous capture. Useful for:

  • Monitoring changes over time
  • Capturing sequential states
  • Comparing before/after screenshots

Capture Widget

The Capture Widget is a floating, always-available button on your screen that provides one-click access to all capture modes.

Features

  • Dockable — Snap to any screen edge
  • Always on top — Stays visible above other windows
  • Hover activation — Shows full menu on hover (configurable delay)
  • Multi-monitor support — Choose which monitor displays the widget
  • Customizable appearance — Adjust size and position in settings

Configuration

  • Show/hide the widget
  • Set dock edge (top, bottom, left, right)
  • Choose target monitor
  • Adjust hover delay

Precision Tools

Crosshair Guides

Horizontal and vertical lines that extend across the entire screen from your cursor position, helping you align captures with screen elements.

Capture Magnifier

A zoomed view around your cursor showing individual pixels. The magnifier displays:

  • Zoom level (configurable)
  • Color code at cursor position (HEX/RGB)
  • Pixel coordinates

Window Detection

Automatically detects and highlights windows, controls, and UI elements under your cursor for precise window or element capture.

After Capture

After a capture completes, CyberSnap can show a Capture Preview dialog with zoom, actions, and auto-close countdown. See the Capture Preview page for full details.

You can also configure immediate actions:

Action Description
Copy to clipboard Places the image on the system clipboard
Open in editor Launches the annotation editor with the capture
Open in default viewer Opens with your default image viewer
Auto-share Automatically uploads to your default provider
None Saves silently (or discards based on settings)

Capture Settings

Setting Description
Default capture mode Which mode to use when triggering a generic capture
Capture delay Wait time before capture (0–10 seconds)
Include cursor Whether to include the mouse cursor in captures
JPEG quality Compression level for JPEG captures (1–100)
Max long edge Automatically resize images exceeding this dimension
Image format PNG, JPEG, or BMP
Crosshair Enable/disable crosshair guides
Magnifier Enable/disable capture magnifier
Window detection Enable/disable smart window detection
