Settings

Settings

CyberFeeds provides extensive configuration options accessible through the Settings panel.

Settings Categories

General

Setting Description
Theme CyberFeeds, White, Purple, Blue, Gray, Yellow
Layout 3-panel, 2-panel, 1-panel, horizontal-split
Language English, Spanish
Interface scale Overall application size. It is also available from the welcome panel for quick adjustment.
Polling interval Minutes between feed refresh (default: 15)
Auto-start with Windows Launch at sign-in
Start minimized Start in system tray
Minimize to tray Minimize sends to tray
Auto-update Check for updates automatically
External browser Auto-detect installed browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi) or configure a custom browser
Close button behavior Choose between minimizing to system tray, quitting, or asking on close
Unread only Show only unread articles by default
Compact article list Dense list view
Show article thumbnails Thumbnails in article list
Instant search Search while typing

Reading

Setting Description
Font size Reader text size
Line height Spacing between lines
Max width Maximum content width
Reading theme Sepia, dark, light
Sidebar font size Sidebar text size
List font size Article list text size
Reader scale Adjust the article reader independently of the rest of the interface
Floating text selection toolbar Show Search, Copy, and Translate actions when selecting article text
Play YouTube in-app Toggle between streaming YouTube videos embedded in the reader or opening in your default browser

Polling

Setting Description
Polling enabled Enable background polling
Polling interval Minutes between refresh cycles
Fetch on startup Fetch articles when app launches
Fetch on startup delay Delay before first fetch
Poll only when unfocused Reduce resource usage when active
Auto-fetch full content Extract full article text

Notifications

Setting Description
Enable notifications Master notification toggle
Position Screen corner
Monitor Target monitor
Duration Display duration
Sound enabled Play sound with notifications
Custom sound path Custom sound file
Max stack count Maximum simultaneous notifications
Margins X/Y Offset from screen edge
Max width/height Notification size limits
Feed filters Muted feeds with a dedicated counter badge in the section header
Keyword filters Watch keywords
Snooze duration Default snooze time
Open behavior Open in browser or app
Show thumbnails Include thumbnails
Preload images Load images in notification
Disable on fullscreen Suppress during fullscreen

Data

Backup Create a JSON backup of settings, folders, feeds, and starred articles
Restore Restore from backup

Hotkeys

Themes

Available Themes

Theme Description
CyberFeeds Default dark theme
Gray Grayscale dark theme
White Light color scheme
Purple Dracula color palette

Yellow Monokai color palette

Theme Application

  • Themes apply immediately
  • All UI elements update
  • Custom CSS variables per theme
  • Reading theme independent of UI theme

Data Management

Backup

Create a full backup of your data:

  1. Go to Settings → Data → Backup
  2. Choose save location
  3. Backup includes: feeds, articles, settings

Restore

Restore from a backup:

  1. Go to Settings → Data → Restore
  2. Select backup file
  3. App restarts with restored data

OPML Import/Export

Action Description
Import OPML Add feeds from another reader
Export OPML Export feeds for backup/transfer

Cleanup

Setting Description
Cleanup read articles Auto-delete read articles after N days
Auto-cleanup on startup Run cleanup on launch

Custom Browser

Configure a custom browser for opening articles:

  1. Go to Settings → General
  2. Set Custom browser path
  3. Articles open in your preferred browser

Window State & Multi-Monitor Support

CyberFeeds remembers window state across sessions and multi-monitor setups:

  • Window position, dimensions, and maximized status
  • Active monitor: display bounds are preserved when minimizing to the system tray
  • Restoring from tray, notifications, or a second-instance launch accurately restores and maximizes the window on its saved target display
  • Panel sizes and splitter positions
  • Sidebar collapsed state
  • Last selected feed and article

State is saved automatically and restored on launch.
