Notifications
CyberSnap uses toast notifications to keep you informed about events and actions without interrupting your workflow. Notifications appear as non-intrusive popups on your screen.
All toast and sound options live in Settings → Notifications tab (toast behavior) and Settings → Sounds tab (per-event sounds).
Notification Types
Capture Notifications

Toast Action Buttons
Toasts show contextual action buttons depending on their kind (capture toasts: Save, Copy, Edit, Share, History/Gallery, Delete, Pin, Close; system toasts: a subset).
Note: the old button-layout designer (presets Minimal / Standard / Full / None and per-button slot positioning) was removed from Settings, the stubs are still no-ops in code (
SettingsWindow.Toast.cs). Toasts honor the stored layout, but there is currently no UI to change presets or button positions.
Update Toast
The update toast is silent, stays on screen for 14 s, and never downloads anything by itself. Clicking it opens the About window update section with a changelog peek and three actions:
- View Release — opens the GitHub release page
- Update Now — downloads the installer with inline progress, then launches it
- Skip this version — silences that release: no further toast, widget badge, or tray LED until a newer version appears
Checking manually from About always reports, and downloading re-arms notifications.
Quiet Hours
Quiet hours suppresses non-error notifications during a configurable time window. Error alerts still appear.
How It Works
- When quiet hours is active, all non-error toasts are muted
- Critical error alerts still display normally
- Capture previews and status messages stay silent
- Test notification buttons bypass quiet hours
Configuration
- Go to Settings → Notifications tab
- Enable Quiet hours
- Set From time (start of quiet window)
- Set To time (end of quiet window)
Schedule
- Times are selected in 30-minute increments (e.g., 22:00, 22:30, 23:00)
- Supports overnight ranges (e.g., 22:00–07:00)
- Based on local system time

Status Display
The settings page shows dynamic status:
- "Active now — only critical alerts until {end}" — when quiet hours is currently active
- "Starts at {start}" — when quiet hours is inactive
Bypass
The following bypass quiet hours:
- Error notifications (always shown)
- Test notification buttons in settings (for previewing toast appearance)
Sounds (Sounds Tab)
Each event has its own card with:
- Enable toggle — mute/unmute that event (dimmed card when muted)
- Play button — preview the current sound
- Browse — pick a custom audio file (
MP3/WAV, defaults to.mp3); the card then shows the file name instead of Built-in, and the new sound plays immediately as confirmation - Reset — drop the custom file and return to the Built-in sound
- Master switch — "all sounds on"; turning every event off flips it off automatically
- Reset all — clears every custom file and unmutes everything
Events With Sounds
Startup, Capture, Color picker, OCR Text, QR / Barcode scan, Recording start, Recording stop, Upload / Share, Achievement, System notification, Capture preview, Error.
Built-in sounds ship inside the app (Assets/Sounds/); custom files are referenced by path in settings: there is no fixed-filename sounds folder to drop files into.
